Up-And-Coming Country Music Star Killed.A bright new star in
the country music sky has been snuffed out. Buck Jones was struck and
killed by a car as he walked along a Texas interstate service road over
the weekend. The driver of the vehicle was being held on charges
officials said Sunday. The singer, who released an album entitled
“Lucky Star” in 2005, was struck from behind early Saturday off
Interstate 30, authorities said.
Jones, 33, of Nashville, Tenn., had blown a tire and was looking for a
mile marker so road assistance crews could find him, promoter and
co-producer Billy Block said in a statement. The driver was being held
over the weekend in Greenville, Texas, on a charge of intoxicated
manslaughter with a vehicle.
Jones and his guitarist were on their way to perform at a party, Block
said. “Buck will be warmly remembered for his easy smile and positive
attitude," Block said. "His memory and his music will live on."
