Pumpkins announce comeback album
The Smashing Pumpkins have announced the release of their first album for seven years.
Entitled Zeitgeist, it will be available from July 7. It will feature 12 tracks and is the first new material from the alternative rockers since 2000's Machina/The Machines Of God.
They split up after that release, and of the original line-up, only frontman Billy Corgan and drummer Jimmy Chamberlain have been confirmed to feature on Zeitgeist.
Former guitarist James Iha has previously said he would not be involved in the reunion.
The album release will be supported by a tour, beginning in Paris on May 22 and taking in the Reading and Leeds festivals between August 24-26.
The Smashing Pumpkins enjoyed considerable success during the 1990s, racking up worldwide album sales of 16 million.
They reached four in the UK album charts with 1993 release Siamese Dream, and again in 1995 with Mellon Collie And The Infinite Sadness.
